The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on 3 September 2026 from Rebel Wolves, a studio built largely out of The Witcher 3’s senior staff, published by Bandai Namco. Its published minimum GPU is an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 — cards from 2016 and 2017 respectively, per the requirements on the game’s Steam store page, re-read on 13 September 2026 with no change since the 31 August reading, and Rebel Wolves’ “An update on PC System Requirements” announcement of 23 June 2026. The launch years are NVIDIA’s own July 2016 GTX 1060 announcement and AMD’s RX 580 listing as part of its April 2017 RX 500 series, per Wikipedia’s sourcing of both.
For a new open-world action RPG shipping in late 2026, that is a striking floor. It is also, on the studio’s own account, lower than where it started.
The published tiers
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10, DirectX 12 | Windows 10, DirectX 12 |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-11400F / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | Intel Core i7-11700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5700X |
| GPU | NVIDIA GTX 1060 / Radeon RX 580 | NVIDIA RTX 4060 / Radeon RX 7600 XT / Intel Arc B580 |
| VRAM | 6 GB | 8 GB |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 60 GB, SSD required | 60 GB, SSD required |
Two things stand out beside the GPU line. RAM does not move between tiers — 16 GB is both the floor and the target, which is a straightforward statement that this game is not a memory hog. And the SSD requirement sits on the minimum row, not the recommended one: a mechanical drive is not a slow configuration here, it is an unsupported one.
The recommended row also lists an Intel Arc B580, which is not something every 2026 requirements table bothers to do.
They came down, and the studio said so
On 23 June 2026, Rebel Wolves published revised requirements, writing that its developers “have been hard at work optimizing” the game following the initial release of the specs, and promising more detailed presets — medium and ultra — “after the final optimization processes.”
Requirements moving downward between announcement and launch is the less common direction of travel. We cannot show you the delta: the earlier table was published as an image in an announcement we could not recover from a live source, so this page states that the revision happened and does not quantify it.
The comparison that makes the number mean something
A minimum spec in isolation says little. Put beside another game’s, it says a lot.
X4: Foundations — an eight-year-old space simulation — is raising its minimum GPU to a GTX 1060 or RX 5300 in its next major update, as it moves to Vulkan 1.4. The same NVIDIA card is, in the same season, the ceiling an old game is climbing to and the floor a new one is standing on.
The AMD side is where the two genuinely diverge. Dawnwalker’s floor is the RX 580 — Polaris, 2017. X4’s is the RX 5300 — RDNA 1, 2020. An RX 580 owner can install a brand-new AAA RPG in September and will be locked out of a 2018 space sim shortly after. The reason is not that the RPG is lighter; it is that Dawnwalker targets DirectX 12, which Polaris supports, while X4 is moving to a graphics API released in December 2024, which a card on a maintenance driver line will not reach.
The lesson for anyone reading requirement tables: “minimum GPU” is not one axis. A card can be fast enough and still be excluded, and it can be old and still be fine.
What ships, and in what languages
Two more facts from the store page that matter to the reader more than the spec table does:
- 15 supported languages, 6 with full audio — English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain) and Polish carry full voice; Czech, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Latin American Spanish and Turkish are text.
- No Russian, in either audio or text.
That last one is worth flagging in advance because of what it does to the review page. Language mix drives review-score spread more reliably than almost anything else — the same game routinely reads dozens of points apart between language communities — and a large community with no localisation at all tends to show up in the numbers. This page was written from the pre-launch store listing, before any review data existed, so the observation is a prediction rather than a rationalisation.
What the June revision doesn’t tell us
- The pre-June requirements. The original table is not recoverable from a live official page, so the size of the reduction is unknown. Third-party coverage cites specific parts; we do not repeat figures we could not read at the source.
- Medium and ultra presets. Promised on 23 June “at a later date”; not published as of 31 August 2026.
- The exact launch date. Rebel Wolves’ announcements all say 3 September 2026; the Steam store page read on 31 August showed “Sep 2, 2026.” Most likely a regional or timezone difference, but nothing we found states it.
- Actual performance at minimum spec. A requirements table is a claim, not a benchmark. No independent testing exists before launch and we make no performance prediction.
